Lac d'Annecy: the purest lake in Europe
Lac d'Annecy is known as the cleanest lake in Europe thanks to strict environmental legislation since the 1960s. With a surface area of 27 km², it offers excellent opportunities for water activities such as swimming and sailing. You will also find a cycle path of no less than 42 kilometres along the lake.
Lac du Mont Cenis: a historic frontier area
The Lac du Mont Cenis reservoir is located at an altitude of 1974 metres and was built in the 1960s. Due to its high altitude, the lake has striking turquoise water and an alpine character. Here you can fish or hike along the many trails that lead you along the lake.

Lac d'Aiguebelette: calm and warm
Lac d'Aiguebelette lake is ideal for those seeking peace and quiet. Motorboats are banned and the water temperature is on average 5°C warmer than other alpine lakes, making it pleasant to swim as early as June. You can also rent canoes and SUP boards here.
Lac de Serre-Ponçon: the largest reservoir
With an area of 28 km², Lac de Serre-Ponçon is the largest man-made lake in Europe. It was created in 1959 and combines water sports with a Mediterranean climate. A unique attraction here is the Chapel Saint-Michel on a peninsula. Here you can undertake all forms of water sports, including windsurfing thanks to reliable winds. You will also find several marinas and boat rentals.
Lac du Bourget: the deepest lake in France
At 145 metres deep, Lac du Bourget is the deepest natural lake entirely in France. It is known for its thermal springs on its southern shore. Here you can practice water sports, join a cruise boat trip or visit the thermal baths in Aix-les-Bains. A great attraction is Hautecombe Abbey; it can be reached by boat.

Lac de Roselend: for nature lovers
This reservoir in the Beaufortain massif was created in 1962 and stands out for its perfect integration into the landscape. It is a starting point for several hiking trails including a 10-kilometre route around the lake. In the surrounding mountain huts you can taste local Beaufort cheese.
Lac Léman: culture and nature
The French part of Lake Geneva offers a combination of cultural attractions and natural beauty. It is the largest lake in western Europe. Here you can visit historic coastal towns such as Évian-les-Bains, Thonon-les-Bains and Yvoire. You can also take a boat trip or participate in a wine tasting.
